I was like that, but 9 years on I really bloody miss it. So, here's a few things I miss about my time at school. But first I'm going to put up some super cringey photos of 14/15 year old Sophie! #awkward<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">See point 6 below! HA. Total cringe.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<ol>
<li><u>The social life</u> - Seriously, I was at a sleepover with my friends almost every weekend. We'd watch movies, hang out at the shops and tell our parents we were places that we weren't ;) even if we weren't allowed to sleep over, we'd still spend the whole day with friends. Also ALL THE PARTIES! The organised discos or the unauthorized house parties were pretty frequent, but I don't do this now... I'm hardly friends with anyone that I went to School with, but even my good friends that I have now, I don't spend half as much time with them as I should. Life is just too hectic y'know!?</li>
<li><u>School Uniform</u> - Bear with me on this... At 25, and working full time I really bloody miss knowing what I'm going to wear every day. At School I had no choice but to put on my uniform but now I can choose what to wear to work, I hate it. That being said, I've actually given myself a 'work uniform' because it annoyed me that much.</li>
<li><u>The holidays</u> - Oh my gosh do I miss the holidays!!! Who doesn't love 6 weeks off in the summer?! I so wish I worked term time only just so I can have this perk back in my life... When I was at School I used to find them a bit boring but seriously, give them back to me now!</li>
<li><u>No Social Media</u> - I'm old... Facebook/Twitter/Instagram didn't exist when I was at School. We had Bebo (anyone remember that) and Myspace but that's it and you could hardly do anything on them. We didn't have social media to compare ourselves to others, if people had anything to say about you, they'd bitch behind your back or to your face and that was that, they couldn't get others to join in online or make group chats about how ugly you are. We didn't have any of this online hate and bullying because it didn't exist! There was no quest to have the 'pinterest perfect' bedroom or having to take the perfect selfie. It was easier 10 years ago that's for sure! In fact, the last photo above is the first ever selfie I uploaded to Facebook in 2007 just as I was leaving school. Hardly anyone had camera phones, let alone a phone with a selfie camera ;) so this was taken on a crappy old Kodak!</li>
<li><u>Party Dances</u> - My friends and I knew every single party dance going, and when you're 11 it's acceptable to whack them out at a party or at a Haven campsite,seriously my friend Rachel and I LOVED it. When you're 25 though, it's not so acceptable and normal! HA. I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for them, and I can't wait to join in the 'parent dances' on our annual camping holidays ;)</li>
<li><u>Breaktimes</u> - Going to school knowing you're gonna get a mid morning break and then almost an hour for lunch is something that you really take for granted when you're 15... Fast forward 10 years and sometimes it's just too busy to even take a lunch break!</li>
<li><u>School Canteen Brownies</u> - Seriously, my school had the best chocolate brownies EVER and I haven't ever found any as nice. I miss them... </li>
</ol>
<div>
So there you go - Just a little bit of fun! ;) </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
What do you miss about School?</div>

I'd been to the Isle of Wight tonnes of time before, but never to Ryde and it was seriously so beautiful and so much fun.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
We caught the Catamaran which was roughly a 20 minute journey across the water and it cost us £26.80 (with a network rail card) for a return journey and tickets for the pier train if we wanted to use it. (we didnt, we walked which only took about 8 minutes!)<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">The Isle of Wight tends to get slated quite a lot by people that live on the mainland as being 'old fashioned and behind the times' etc, but you know what? I really liked it. It was nice walking along through the streets on a Sunday and having the majority of the shops closed and I really liked using cash for things instead of just swiping a card! The internet was also pretty shocking which was fine for me, cos as a work widow it was nice to spend quality time with Martin without him constantly getting distracted by emails! ;)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Anyway I thought I'd take you along in a sort of picture diary of our day type thing!</span><br />

<span style="font-family: inherit;">We were super lucky with the weather so decided to walk along the pier, and the view was amazing. I don't know what I was expecting, but it certainly wasn't this! I'm sure you'll agree it just looks so quaint and pretty and I was actually pretty darn excited to be there! We turned left at the end of the pier which took us to the road to the beach. Even that was pretty and everyone that walked/cycled past us just seemed so chilled out and happy.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Along the beach front, were the typical tourist type shops that sell a load of tat (I still love them though), an amusements arcade and a bit further down was crazy golf, bumper boats, water zorbing and some other things like that including loads of little restaurants, cafes and the cutest little icecream shop.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: inherit;">We walked even further along, just following the road which took us past the most beautiful lake with some gorgeous houses the other side... I didn't hang around here too long though cos there were too many ducks for my liking! Oh, and I also found Rapunzels Tower... Well, it wasn't actually <i>her </i>tower it belonged to some spiritual healing centre, but I liked to pretend it was. <strike>We'll also pretend I didn't run up to it shouting 'babe, I've found my way home!' </strike> There wasn't much to do the other side of the tower, just a little restaurant/cafe, so we headed back the other way and by that point, we'd walked about 2 miles and my feet were killing me because some idiot wore shoes that were too small. Good one Soph!</span><br />

<span style="font-family: inherit;">Lunch was just a quick pit stop in the Harbour Deli Cafe right by the beach! I had a tuna wrap with salad and Martin had a crab wrap with salad. They were ok, nothing sensational and when the cook came out with dirt under his fingernails I did cringe a little. I'd like to think it was an internal cringe but I'm not sure it was ;)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">After lunch we decided to stop and play a quick game of crazy golf which was absolutely hilarious! I was beyond rubbish and we took so long, that a little boy actually over took us on the course. My hand eye coordination was shocking and Martin beat me by 10 points. Still, I laughed so much.</span><br />
<div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">As if we hadn't already walked enough, we walked up into the town which was about a 10 minute walk from the crazy golf and amusement arcade. As I said before there was hardly anything open but that was totally cool with me. The town is full of cute little boutique style shops and funky little cafes and in one shop I found my dream wedding dress (hint hint) ;) after that we just made our way back to the boat terminal to go home! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">I absolutely loved my afternoon in Ryde and we've already made plans to go back with the kids cos they would love it there! Next time though we will be more prepared and take cash with us because finding a cash point along the front is near on impossible! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Have you been to Ryde? What other cute places can we visit this summer?</span><br />

I thought I'd very quickly show you how I'm currently doing my hair. I don't know about you, but I tend to find a style I like, stick with it for a few weeks and then never do it again!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjS4na95IxsE_ufFvxiolhrEgRkzrqBXskvxonYxN7StjRJ5qYAkQgJgy1HIrT8rhIAFNmuDoYIifqShfAIypLlLgguEyoI1xgztDI8YLCR5cZxc0A4vmHWREG3iY7XjNjJGy3iifAtwMY4/s1600/Current+Hairstyle.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjS4na95IxsE_ufFvxiolhrEgRkzrqBXskvxonYxN7StjRJ5qYAkQgJgy1HIrT8rhIAFNmuDoYIifqShfAIypLlLgguEyoI1xgztDI8YLCR5cZxc0A4vmHWREG3iY7XjNjJGy3iifAtwMY4/s640/Current+Hairstyle.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
I am aware that it makes me look about 12, but I don't mind really. Anyway, this is so simple to do, I literally grab half my hair in a bun, twist a hair band round it and pin it in place. You can stretch the bun as big or as little as you like just to add a bit more volume. I always tend to loosely curl the half that's down but you don't have to.<br />
<br />
Voila - super simple and quick and I love that it keeps the front half of my hair out of my face as well. I literally can't stand bits of hair that constantly fall in my eyes!<br />
<br />
Love<br />

<br /></div>
<div>
Hey, so seriously, where the hell did the last month go? Yeah, I have no idea either. Anyway, it's time to see whether I achieved any of my little goals from last week and I think it might just be a good one ;) </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b><u>April</u></b></div>

YAY. </span></li>
<li style="margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0px;"><u>Sell some unwanted things</u> - I put a load of stuff on Gumtree last month, but I didnt really keep on top of that! Boo. </li>
<li style="margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0px;"><u>Complete and pass three modules of my diploma</u> - Literally haven't even opened my books! ARGH. </li>
<li style="margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0px;"><u><strike>Try to worry less</strike></u> - Since I've come off my anxiety medication, I have actually found I'm much more chilled out. I'm an emotional mess most of the time, but hey, we can't have it all!</li>
<li style="margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0px;"><u>Upload new blog content twice a week</u> - I didn't manage this really! I did upload more than the previous month though, so we're on the right track. </li>

<li style="margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0px;"><u><strike>Visit somewhere new</strike></u> - This happened BIG TIME!! We decided to take a last minute break to Crete in Greece, which was amazing and then this weekend we went to Ryde on the Isle of Wight... Seriously, that place is so cute. </li>
<li style="margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0px;"><u><strike>Regrow my nails</strike></u> - When I was in Crete I got shellac done, which I never really do but it's really help with the nail growth! haha.</li>

<li><span style="font-family: "calibri";"><span style="font-size: 15.4px; line-height: 21.56px;"><u>Take the kids somewhere new</u> - Last month WE went somewhere new, but I'd like to take the kids somewhere different. We only have them twice a week so I want to start making the most of our time together now the weather is getting nicer.</span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: "calibri";"><span style="font-size: 15.4px; line-height: 21.56px;"><u>Lose weight</u> - This is going to be a difficult one cos I don't own a pair of scales, but I'm really making a conscious effort to eat healthier and have smaller portions! I'm not gonna lie, I had little knowledge of who he was before I went... Magicians, illusionists and all things like that which mess with your mind TERRIFIES me. (I'm not even joking - I burst into tears in TGI Fridays once cos a magician turned a pack of playing cards into ice in my hand haha!) So yeah, quite frankly, I was very anxious and didn't know what to expect, but d'ya know what? I really really enjoyed it.<br />
<br />
This is a difficult post to write because I obviously can't give anything away, so I'll try my hardest to review it without actually reviewing it.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZe-JvnLXi-6IhGz8CDhh_0vJijbIJ-owQ2IUVeNgoHFZMqSnKAR9kIDNvpI7LaRNxCbojagrP2m0d3uEf5AKTkMutnMLMIAjY5cbZRz2vMItvjpYAj92x4b95ho6voHUMISKCzZrm1Ucx/s1600/Derren+Brown+Miracle+Tour+2016+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZe-JvnLXi-6IhGz8CDhh_0vJijbIJ-owQ2IUVeNgoHFZMqSnKAR9kIDNvpI7LaRNxCbojagrP2m0d3uEf5AKTkMutnMLMIAjY5cbZRz2vMItvjpYAj92x4b95ho6voHUMISKCzZrm1Ucx/s640/Derren+Brown+Miracle+Tour+2016+2.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://theangrymicrowave.com/">credit: theangrymicrowave.com</a></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
There is so much more to the show than just magic and illusion, Derren is ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS. Seriously, he had me laughing pretty much through out which I definitely wasn't expecting. It also makes you think, like seriously think and take some time out from life which was incredible and made me cry, but not because I was scared. I was literally just overcome with emotion.<br />
<br />
Obviously there was magic and even now I'm still totally baffled as to how it was done but I guess that's the point! There were bits of it that I wasn't convinced about and I don't think I ever will be, but that's certainly not because it wasn't executed well, but more that I'm cynical about certain things. There was plenty of audience participation, and the way the audience were selected makes me 99% sure that they were actually randoms and not pre selected! There was also plenty of online participation too (check out <a href="https://twitter.com/DerrenBrown">@derrenbrown</a> to see what I mean!) which was quite funny and kept it right up to date!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This is the selfie that he took on the night! We are in there somewhere! Ha. I do love a good ol' stage selfie.<br />
<br />
So there you go. In a nutshell I'd say it's bloody brilliant with more than just magic. It'll make you cringe, it'll make you laugh, and it will probably make you emotional and it is well worth going to see if you get the chance to. I will definitely be going to see another one of his shows if he does another tour!<br />
<br />
Have you seen it? What did you think?<br />

No matter what it's for, no matter how big or small (that's all relative to the person, admittedly) when you pour your heart, soul and time into something, it bloody sucks. <div>
<br /></div>
<div>
It's embarrassing, difficult to deal with and quite honestly, it's fucking painful. The feeling of dread in the pit of your stomach, the lump in your throat as you try not to cry and be brave and the anxiety that follows after with all the thoughts in your head 'am I not good enough? What could I have done differently?' Then you have all the sympathy from other people, asking if you're ok, if there's anything they can do. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Whether it be for a job, a relationship, freelance work, audition etc, it is difficult to deal with - so how do you deal with it? I don't know, is the honest answer but what I have learned is this:</div>
<div>
<ul>
<li>Cry it out - Crying is good for the soul, and if you need to cry, then let it out. Full on shoulder shaking sobs are the best kind for this I find ;) don't worry about being a pretty cry-er right now. </li>
<li>Ask why - You're entitled to feel upset by the situation, and if asking 'why' to someone makes them feel bad, it ain't your problem. Let them know how it's made you feel (if it's acceptable to do so of course!) </li>
<li>Allow yourself to be angry - Anger is a main reaction for rejection. Feel it, allow it to flow through you and then LET IT OUT. This is so important. Don't bottle it up, find a way to let your anger out. Cry, scream, shout, pound it out in the gym, do whatever works for you. </li>
<li>Take a break - Whatever the source of rejection was, take a break from it. A day, a week, however long you feel you need to heal. If you don't want to talk to people, then don't, just allow time for you. </li>
</ul>
<div>
Just remember though, you WILL get over it. Yes, occasionally it'll rear it's ugly head and all those feelings you originally felt will probably come back, but with time, that will get less and less. It will feel better, eventually.</div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
When?</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Who knows.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
But it will. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I promise. </div>

P.s - this is a deep post, I know, but one I needed to write today <3 </div>
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11577235833575174027noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-88924200396471898.post-16691039915092755832016-04-18T19:26:00.000+01:002016-04-18T19:26:32.553+01:00Spring Nail Polish PicksHi loves! <div>
Spring is here... (well, it's grey and cold, but ya know, it's April!) which means it's time to bring out the brighter nail polishes instead of the neutral and dark shades. Don't get me wrong, I do love a berry shade, but my favourite thing about spring and summer (apart from the sun) is the bright, happy colours I can paint my nails. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I have recently bought a nice pinky coral shade, but as I've not worn it yet it hasn't made it into this post. That being said, here are my favourites from last summer and the ones I've been wearing lately.</div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Nude Rose is a gorgeous dusky pink colour and is one of those shades which you can wear throughout the whole year. It's classy, understated and just makes your hands look polished. This is my second tube (?!) of this one because I love it that much.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Hot Salsa is a vibrant coral/red and looks AMAZING with a tan. I'm going on holiday at the end of this week and I know that this will be the one I paint my nails with as soon as I get home. It's such a fun colour.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Bestival Blue is the only blue I have in my collection. I find blue polishes really hard to wear some times. I tried to channel my inner Aria with a bright cobalt blue stage last year but it really didn't work for me! Haha. This, however is such a gorgeous colour. It's the perfect creamy periwinkle blue shade and I always get complimented on it whenever I wear it. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The one from George at Asda is the nail polish with no name. It's a true creamy coral and it's the one I gravitate towards as soon as the sun comes out cos it's not too in your face! </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Most of my collection consist of either the Maybelline 7 days range, or the Rimmel ones as I find they last best on my nails, the formula is amazing and they literally have every colour you can think of! The Maybelline ones are around £4.99 and I think the Rimmel ones are about £2.99 so neither of them break the bank for the quality that they are. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The one from George at Asda isnt great application wise, and it chips really easily but I love the colour, so I use it anyway when I know I haven't got a lot of typing to do! :) It was only about £1 so I can't complain really.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
What are your spring polish picks?</div>
<div>

If you read <a href="http://sophies-edit.blogspot.co.uk/2016/04/my-current-make-up-routine.html">this post</a> then you'll know that I mentioned the Clinique Stay Matte Oil Free Foundation, and that I said it was pretty much my holy grail foundation.<br />
<br />
First off, it's suitable for normal, combination or oily skin which covers an amazing amount of skin types, something that I feel very few other brands do, and there are about 30 different shades/tones so I literally think anyone could find this to match them. When I first bought this, my skin was ridiculously oily and no foundation would stay on for very long, this included! However, as I've gotten older my skin has become more combination instead of oily and this foundation is just amazing for that.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvGG4hXCePyppPS5Wb-IvNe__Ca6DrfY7A1XynggCCYdSRDjTcDwZsMkS6seE4E84yC8BqePXffqSskPM_e0JAJxfm1C98VvbneQ7_ryEE-XKBpFJQqc1PriVHAUe9CbEcfil1leuYhBmW/s1600/Clinique+Stay+Matte+Foundation+close+up+square+crop.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="630" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvGG4hXCePyppPS5Wb-IvNe__Ca6DrfY7A1XynggCCYdSRDjTcDwZsMkS6seE4E84yC8BqePXffqSskPM_e0JAJxfm1C98VvbneQ7_ryEE-XKBpFJQqc1PriVHAUe9CbEcfil1leuYhBmW/s640/Clinique+Stay+Matte+Foundation+close+up+square+crop.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
One thing I really love about this product, is the packaging. Now, I know that it's not the most glamorous packaging, but it's practical. No one likes carrying around a glass bottle that you have to pour out on the back of your hand do they? This is in a practical tube that is easily squeezed. It's small and compact so perfect for travelling as well. Bonus.<br />
<br />
The formula and coverage of this foundation is also second to none! It's quite a thick foundation when you blob it on your face, but it's a medium coverage, definitely buildable and it is super easy to blend. I find the best way to apply it is with a dense buffing brush, as that really works it in.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoo5iG7hD8KxgzdpYvWP3EF2Jt73PnYBcYKCC465rFzusFOsaJZTyISLNUhasO89cE1cBZWl0TI2bQ1-NrvDjzPiLy7eqEFrMAha_Vq6GkUdQ5pVUdbsWozsXcCyzE95Ad9EKxS2wo8X9M/s1600/Clinique+Foundation+Close+up+square+crop.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="634" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoo5iG7hD8KxgzdpYvWP3EF2Jt73PnYBcYKCC465rFzusFOsaJZTyISLNUhasO89cE1cBZWl0TI2bQ1-NrvDjzPiLy7eqEFrMAha_Vq6GkUdQ5pVUdbsWozsXcCyzE95Ad9EKxS2wo8X9M/s640/Clinique+Foundation+Close+up+square+crop.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The lasting power of this foundation is amazing! It's the one I reach for if I know I've got a long day ahead of me as it looks natural, not too cakey and I know I can rely on it to stay relatively shine free for the majority of the day. It's also the foundation I reach for if I need lasting power on a night out when photos are going to be taken as it looks gorgeous in photos. I'm not sure what SPF it has, but there is certainly no ghost face going on with this!<br />
<br />
Anyway, the picture below is when I had just applied my make up at about 10am last Saturday...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiixPbRS4w0D2NhWQsTd-fNtGTEo3i19IUIeaYiK48PekCQ9zx_PTE8buIDuAgY-NknS21cq44EzWlEAnO1w-9NQ9idqnZIq-v7Qh6WtJRG3mIjKL5vTQbPDO6r4LnWcF5kRnSiPZGfguBx/s1600/Clinique+Foundation+start+of+day+square++crop.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="638" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiixPbRS4w0D2NhWQsTd-fNtGTEo3i19IUIeaYiK48PekCQ9zx_PTE8buIDuAgY-NknS21cq44EzWlEAnO1w-9NQ9idqnZIq-v7Qh6WtJRG3mIjKL5vTQbPDO6r4LnWcF5kRnSiPZGfguBx/s640/Clinique+Foundation+start+of+day+square++crop.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I spent the whole day outside in the forest, probably walked in total for around 4 hours, drank copious amounts of tea and did some clearing of the garage. Basically when this foundation was pictured, I gave it a bloody good testing of it's longevity... Haha!<br />
<br />
The next picture is taken at around 8.30pm the same night...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNdl0LIKkscDq2taEB9t6lzqnX4YCYPc7wr9QRZsFm3Oj4yl5TBQz-Qm7VI-YeA2QWLLM9Ai_aSRztL00IRNkFkwuvgaLJF40wm_rilnDVOgLaXO0OuihT4Oy0AFcLjBlmdiUN9JY5vxYW/s1600/Clinique+Foundation+end+of+day+square+crop.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNdl0LIKkscDq2taEB9t6lzqnX4YCYPc7wr9QRZsFm3Oj4yl5TBQz-Qm7VI-YeA2QWLLM9Ai_aSRztL00IRNkFkwuvgaLJF40wm_rilnDVOgLaXO0OuihT4Oy0AFcLjBlmdiUN9JY5vxYW/s640/Clinique+Foundation+end+of+day+square+crop.jpg" width="638" /></a></div>
<br />
Yes, I know I look pretty poopy, but this is about 10.5 hours after I first applied it, without any powdering at all. You can see there is a lot more shine than at 10am but even that shine isn't totally gross... There is some shine across my forehead, a little bit on my cheeks and on my nose but for the amount of time I had it on, it's really impressive! Ok, so I know it's not perfect, but what foundation looks the same at the end of the day anyway?!<br />
<br />
This foundation costs around £29 and I would honestly tell anyone that has problems with the longevity of their foundation to try this. If I ever do prom or wedding make up, I always get the client to pick up a sample of this and I'll use that because I know it's just totally reliable.<br />
<br />
Have you used this foundation? What foundation do you rely on to last all day?<br />
<br />

Not because I don't like them but because I tend to wear the same sort of outfit all the time (when I'm not at work of course) and I'm not sure if that's something you'd guys find boring?<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Anyway, this month I set myself a goal of uploading one fashion post this month, so I've put together a little jist of what I wear on the weekends...</div>

<span id="goog_1666621165"></span>Obviously these exact clothes change from week to week, but this is pretty much my weekend uniform. Sometimes I'll wear a pink cardigan, or a long sleeved stripey top, or I might wear light blue jeans etc but you get the idea! One thing that never changes is my bag! Ohhh this bag... I love it so much. It was a 25th birthday present from Martin, bless him, and I literally haven't used another bag since I got it in November.. Hence the brown belt. Colour coordination and all that ;)<br />
<br />
I tend to wear this with either boots, or flat shoes depending on the weather but I'm sure when it's a bit warmer it'll look good with flip flops too!<br />
<br />
What's your favourite thing to wear?<br />

I thought I'd share my current make up routine with you. I know when I first started blogging I showed you what was in my make up bag, but it's changed recently as we've gotten more towards spring, so here we go...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzmRnqzW_KFQoF3O8cPvgP7weDs3mFQHS5_7ioRS5Y7TTursmbXtODDR8K1z-PlyNaLdgvqxkAtc_G_XyCMcV7-M3Owfhuozd8Y-HmMpHtY-XbAWZkZChJdzAT68oQ_ae5Pe6MkfCUWoQK/s1600/Current+Make+up.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="436" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzmRnqzW_KFQoF3O8cPvgP7weDs3mFQHS5_7ioRS5Y7TTursmbXtODDR8K1z-PlyNaLdgvqxkAtc_G_XyCMcV7-M3Owfhuozd8Y-HmMpHtY-XbAWZkZChJdzAT68oQ_ae5Pe6MkfCUWoQK/s640/Current+Make+up.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>

<br />
I got a little sample of the Benefit Porefessional primer a little while ago, so I thought I'd use that at the moment because my Rimmel one I mentioned <a href="http://sophies-edit.blogspot.co.uk/2016/01/whats-in-my-make-up-bag.html">here</a> has run out. The Benefit one is ok I guess, but I prefer the Rimmel one. The <a href="http://www.clinique.co.uk/product/1599/21954/Makeup/Foundations/Stay-Matte-Oil-Free-Makeup?77tadunit=e96f9bf6&77tadvert=91397385180&77tkeyword=clinique%20stay%20matte%20foundation&77tentrytype=s&cm_mmc=ppc-_-77agency-_-brand-_-clinique%20stay%20matte%20foundation&gclid=Cj0KEQjwxI24BRDqqN3f-97N6egBEiQAGv37hDRq2Ae4AL0sGIWL6cOqRP6Gz6G14eoDCYMfPpM7ukMaAngg8P8HAQ">Clinique Stay Matte Oil Free </a> is quite possibly my favourite foundation of all time, (Review coming soon), and I buff it in using the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush as I find that gives me the best coverage and the best finish. I then use a concealer on any blemishes and my dark under eye circles which is currently the most popular concealer ever - The Collection lasting perfection. This tube is ridiculously old now and I'm pretty sure it's unhygenic BUT I want to finish it it up. I finish my base off with the Rimmel Stay Matte powder which I don't think will ever change because it's the only that keeps oil at bay. It's super cheap too definitely can''t complain! <br />
<br />
Next up for me is brows and I'm currently using the Maybelline Brow Satin pencil in dark brown, which I think is quite new? I've never seen it anyway! It's basically a twist up hard pencil on one end and a powder the other end. I really like it, and the colour stays on literally all day! To keep my stray hairs in place I use a clear mascara which is currently the colour lash (lol!?) from Collection.<br />
<br />
After brows I move on to my eyes and I'm absolutely loving my original Naked Palette at the moment. I have all of them, including the smokey, and the two basics one but I find myself reaching for this more than any of the others. I apply the shade 'toasted' all over my lids with 'buff' buffed into the crease to give a bit more definition. I then use the Rimmel twist up eyeliner to buff into my lash line and smudge out with the smudger and then I put it in my waterline. It's a bit of a bitch to put on the waterline to be honest, but it's waterproof and doesn't budge, so it's well worth it imo. I use the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara on my lower and upper lashes and I find it really accentuates my eyes! I still have tonnes of other mascaras to use, but I repurchased this the other day cos it's one of my faves.<br />
<br />
For cheeks, I like to lightly contour using Mac's Harmony blush... Yes, I know it's a blusher, but trust me, it is the best for contouring on my skin tone. After that's blended so I don't look like a zebra, I follow up with Nars 'Deep Throat' blush. I was using 'Dolce Vita' but now it's spring, I've changed back to this one, and as you can see by the state of it, it is very well loved.<br />
<br />
In this look I'm wearing Mac 'Brave' lipstick on my lips which is my current favourite, but to be honest it changes with the weather! Sometimes I'll wear a darker colour, other times I'll go for a really nude shade... It all just depends!<br />
<br />
So, there's my super simple current make up look. I apologise for the fact I'm the least photogenic person ever, but hey ho!<br />
<br />
What's your current make up routine?<br />
<br />
Love<br />

So last month I uploaded my <a href="http://sophies-edit.blogspot.co.uk/2016/03/march-goals.html">March Goals</a> and seeing as we've now hit the end of the month (WHAAAAAAAAAAT?) I thought I'd update you on how well (or not so well) I've done, and set my goals for April.<br />
<br />
<b><u>March</u></b><br />
<br />
<ol>
<li>Complete 4 modules of my diploma - I managed 3!</li>
<li>Pass all 4 modules first time - I passed 2 first time and 1 second time</li>
<li><strike>Use more lipsticks </strike> - I whacked out MAC lady danger for the first time in forever</li>
<li>Read/finish a book - Literally didnt even pick one up</li>
<li><strike>Get through a whole dance performance mistake free</strike> FYI you can see the performance <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GIKaJloipiY">here</a>. Whilst you're there, give our channel some love? Thanks ;)</li>
<li>Upload a fashion related post - Epic fail</li>
<li>Book a holiday - Again, epic fail</li>
<li><strike>Sort out my clothes</strike> - I had a major sort out at the beginning of the month. yay.</li>
<li>Go running - Didn't even attempt this. I thought about it though, so it kinda counts, right?</li>
</ol>
<div>
Ok - so I'm sure you'll agree I did shit. Haha... That being said, setting goals that require concentration when you're in the middle of house renovations probably isn't the smartest move. Still, onwards and upwards eh!?</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTMQN1QZ7aXKa0p7L_wEIRYIu7H6qUwSDreti-hV2uclMi-rQEazx7yq7oBAaqMbPErHIu25bNWOn13xjMB3lVm3T-iBsIvowt4v2T2n3l3raMpBJ3ad5Di1M0QeCg2cxP-UQ3i6TvE4vH/s1600/Motivation-Picture-Quote-Determination.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTMQN1QZ7aXKa0p7L_wEIRYIu7H6qUwSDreti-hV2uclMi-rQEazx7yq7oBAaqMbPErHIu25bNWOn13xjMB3lVm3T-iBsIvowt4v2T2n3l3raMpBJ3ad5Di1M0QeCg2cxP-UQ3i6TvE4vH/s640/Motivation-Picture-Quote-Determination.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b><u>April Goals</u></b></div>
<div>
<ol>
<li><u>Start to get out of my overdraft</u> - Seriously, does this need explaining!? Haha. </li>
<li><u>Sell some unwanted things</u> - I have a mountain of stuff that needs to be sold and to be honest, I just can't be bothered some times! </li>
<li><u>Complete and pass three modules of my diploma</u> - I tried 4 last month and I just about managed 3 so I'm gonna lower the stakes this time round!</li>
<li><u>Try to worry less</u> - Ok, so this is a broad one, but I need to stop worrying about things I can't change.</li>
<li><u>Upload new blog content twice a week</u> - I've really slacked with this blog over the last month! I've had no motivation or spare time this week but I've missed it, so I'm back!</li>
<li><u>Do a fashion related post</u> - I know I posted this last time, but I'm gonna do one this month... It's my mission! </li>
<li><u>Visit somewhere new</u> - I love exploring and going to new places, whether it be just down the road or a bit further afield and hopefully now the weather should improve, I should be able to visit more places :) </li>
<li><u>Regrow my nails</u> - Since I've been doing a lot of decorating and renovations my nails have been so weak and brittle and they've all broken. Sad times.</li>
</ol>
<div>
So there we have it. Lets see what happens at the end of April, huh!? </div>
</div>
<div>
What are your goals for April?</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Love</div>

You're kicking and screaming, feeling out of breath and your heart is racing.<br />
<br />
That's anxiety. You're drowning, and there is no one there to save you.<br />
<br />
That's what it feels like for me, every second of every day my heart is racing, beating faster than my body can produce oxygen. Every waking moment is consumed with worry, over trivial things most of the time, but all of that is heightened into gigantic proportions. I'm constantly on edge, wondering what's going to set it off next.<br />
<br />
Because of this, I constantly need reassurance. Reassurance that you're not leaving. Reassurance that we are ok, and reassurance that I'm safe.<br />
<br />Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11577235833575174027noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-88924200396471898.post-73720519513826287592016-03-17T09:04:00.000+00:002016-03-17T09:04:25.231+00:00Recipe: Vegetable Stir Fry Today I thought I'd share another quick and simple recipe which literally takes about 10 minutes in total to prepare and cook! Seriously, it's so quick... It's also relatively healthy as well and tastes bloody awesome.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<b><u>Ingredients - (serves 2)</u></b><br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>A pack of egg noodles (I normally use fresh ones, but I didn't this time. FYI, fresh taste nicer)</li>
<li>Half a leek</li>
<li>1 pepper (I only had green and yellow, and I don't like green ones so used yellow)</li>
<li>Half a courgette</li>
<li>Mushrooms</li>
<li>Olive oil (or fry light)</li>
<li>Garlic</li>
<li>Soy Sauce</li>
</ul>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b><u>Method</u></b></div>
<div>
<ul>
<li>Chop the vegetables however you like</li>
<li>Add them to the Wok with around a table spoon of oil and fry on a medium heat until they have all softened</li>
<li>When the veg has softened, add a couple of splashes of Soy Sauce and stir it together</li>
<li>Add Garlic (as much as you like!) </li>
<li>If you're using pre-packed noodles, then run them under hot water to detangle them and drain them whilst the veg is frying, if they're fresh just plonk them in the wok. </li>
<li>Add the noodles to the wok and splash on a load more soy sauce to cover</li>
<li>Continue to stir whilst on a medium heat so it doesn't stick. </li>
<li>Serve!</li>
</ul>

See, told you it was simple... you can obviously change this up to suit you and add whatever you like. I've also done this with chicken, but that takes longer to make. I also like to add a bit of paprika before I add the noodles to give it an extra something.</div>

Let me know if you try this! :) </div>

I thought I'd do a little update of things that I'm loving on Netflix at the mo! Round two if you will...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmwTBZkJdzfDZPtb6g5PUGwsksajIdR9R_w0sUh5oYzl-cld4Vz3q8DEtpEC8vrHqwEpyZPxsZrLx9BHX4PKkaULOftHsXi4SFgkwc-UEauCngIoxeaNEhyphenhyphenPYx8qby0KftuUBKS2IAjocq/s1600/Benidorm_titlecard.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmwTBZkJdzfDZPtb6g5PUGwsksajIdR9R_w0sUh5oYzl-cld4Vz3q8DEtpEC8vrHqwEpyZPxsZrLx9BHX4PKkaULOftHsXi4SFgkwc-UEauCngIoxeaNEhyphenhyphenPYx8qby0KftuUBKS2IAjocq/s640/Benidorm_titlecard.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<u style="font-weight: bold;">Benidorm -</u> I actually watched seasons 7 and 8 when they were on TV last year and this year, but I'd never seen the earlier ones, so we found it on Netflix and have been hooked! Both Martin and I will be watching it, and literally lol-ing. Basically, if you've not seen it, it's based around typical Brits abroad, in a hotel called the Solana in Benidorm. Yes, its very stereotypical and a bit of a piss take, but I love it.<br />
I think we're going to book a few days away to the actual hotel just for the lols...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWwWvGY7XtWm_69uUs-lNiJywLvb181ykOA8z1nB300GXxESDsHdJy2JFn_dnPvsNSP9awXv8IujtcDfOHgFSCK4H6Ss7BXSbDvl4MSEW-4Z7gef6dioAms3c6JwmX7JKBPL8EanU6DYdK/s1600/download+%25282%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWwWvGY7XtWm_69uUs-lNiJywLvb181ykOA8z1nB300GXxESDsHdJy2JFn_dnPvsNSP9awXv8IujtcDfOHgFSCK4H6Ss7BXSbDvl4MSEW-4Z7gef6dioAms3c6JwmX7JKBPL8EanU6DYdK/s640/download+%25282%2529.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<u style="font-weight: bold;">Deadly Women - </u> This is a new discovery for us, like literally we watched half the season over this weekend! Haha. It's a documentary about different female murderers (mostly in America!) and just explains how and why they killed the people that they did. It's very gruesome but really interesting. I guess it's a bit like Countdown to Murder or Born to Kill if any of you watch those?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUjp3pQ4IN-TG1Qd5iaD93vRf0xW6GJ7D7AY3P8j0znB0M6t1c0CD6O3CydBLwyU_MalUNrFYRQV40OSrt8m6J-8AgPKaCUFK83AdnQUvWt7vsrkm1d0z_Pfd47IyKUcpig0OjMPdeomnG/s1600/Gossip_Girl_title_card.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUjp3pQ4IN-TG1Qd5iaD93vRf0xW6GJ7D7AY3P8j0znB0M6t1c0CD6O3CydBLwyU_MalUNrFYRQV40OSrt8m6J-8AgPKaCUFK83AdnQUvWt7vsrkm1d0z_Pfd47IyKUcpig0OjMPdeomnG/s640/Gossip_Girl_title_card.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<u style="font-weight: bold;">Gossip Girl -</u> Do I even need to explain this?! I am so late to the bandwagon with this (seriously, story of my life) I didn't really think I would like this, and I don't know why! I guess it just didn't appeal to me, but I seriously love it. It's really escapism and you really get drawn in to the characters and their stories. It's based in Manhattan and follows the lives of the ridiculously rich teenagers. :)<br />
<br />
What are you loving? Any recommendations?<br />

<br />
They won't be anything groundbreaking, or anything like that, but these are my goals for the month of March.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAgxdruX4ncpemf1t3kNPpQqqWkvWSX-TKzVipnhAVW6Mbx3IrSZfjalsQZDRp-pn3aQjF4ZKIFnNsADUmqMtP_jyRngV4D2P340i8LAgOzf4KauVahAzNGJM5qLDRi3tcZvzize-Kmb78/s1600/dream-big-set-goals-and-take-action.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAgxdruX4ncpemf1t3kNPpQqqWkvWSX-TKzVipnhAVW6Mbx3IrSZfjalsQZDRp-pn3aQjF4ZKIFnNsADUmqMtP_jyRngV4D2P340i8LAgOzf4KauVahAzNGJM5qLDRi3tcZvzize-Kmb78/s640/dream-big-set-goals-and-take-action.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>

</tbody></table>
<br />
<br />
<ol>
<li><u>Complete 4 modules of my diploma</u> - This basically equates to 1 module a week, which should be do-able. As I type this, I've already completed 1, so I technically have 3 more to go ;)</li>
<li><u>Pass all 4 of said modules ^ first time</u> - Not that I like to put pressure on myself or anything, but I like to do well in things! Haha.</li>
<li><u>Use more lipsticks</u> - I have a massive stash of lipsticks, but I tend to use the same ones. Therefore I'm going to dig out some of the ones I haven't used for a while.</li>
<li><u>Read/finish a book</u> - I love reading and when I was younger I always had my head in a book. These days, unless I'm on holiday, or at a spa I don't really do any reading.</li>
<li><u>Get through a whole dance performance mistake free</u> - For me this is a biggie! Next Friday (11th March) I'm on stage for the first time since 2011 and to be honest, I'm shitting a brick! Ha. If I can make it through without making a mistake and embarrassing myself and my dance company, I'll be a happy girlie! HAHA.</li>
<li><u>Upload a fashion related post</u> - I'm not the most fashionable of people, seriously, I just live in jeans, but I thought it would be nice to get a post up on the general sort of outfit I like to wear at the weekend.</li>
<li><u>Book a holiday</u> - M and I have been talking about holidays since our last one in the summer, and we really need to book one!</li>
<li><u>Sort out my clothes</u> - I did this when I moved house in November, but things are getting a bit cluttered again so it's time to have a sort out!</li>
<li><u>Go running</u> - Last month I was running 3 times a week, then I got sick and it kinda stopped. I miss it so I want to get back in to it again.</li>
</ol>
<div>
So, these are my goals for the month of March. Let's see how well we can do. What are your goals?</div>

It's also Thursday, so thought I'd post a little throwback to me and my mum in 1998! :)<br />

<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This was before she got sick - about 3 years before she got sick I think, and it's how I like to remember her. She was always laughing, always smiling and constantly full of love for me and my brother even when she probably didn't like us that much! Haha. She lost her battle with Cancer in January 2004 when I was just 13 so this marks the 12th Mothers Day without her... It's gotten easier over the years, but I really want you to promise me that you'll spoil your mummys as much as you can, not only on Mothers Day, but whenever you can really. Let her know she's loved, because I didn't really have the opportunity to do that. </div>

If you missed <a href="http://sophies-edit.blogspot.co.uk/2016/02/januarys-happy-things.html">this post</a> then it basically explains what the happy things series is about!<br />
<br />

<div>
<ol>
<li>Dublin - We flew out for a couple of days on Valentines day. It's such a beautiful City, I just wish I had been well enough to enjoy it properly. (I caught a virus! Yum)</li>
<li>Birthdays - This seems to have been the month for getting dressed up to go and party. Who doesn't like to party on a Saturday?!</li>
<li>Catching up with friends - Martin went away for the weekend at the beginning of the month and although I missed him, it was super lovely to catch up with friends and just take some time out to do what I wanted without having to worry about other people.</li>
<li>Dancing - I recently got picked to dance for a professional charity event and was literally over the moon. For those who don't know, I am a part time event dancer with The Butterflies and they are the loveliest group of girls ever! They really keep me sane sometimes. Love them <3</li>
<li>My hair - I got my hair done a stage lighter at the beginning of the month and I seriously love it! I am well on the way to being the colour that I want to be in time for summer.</li>
<li>Sundays - Most Sundays this month have been spent doing not a lot, and whilst I like doing things, I also love not having to rush anywhere first thing in the morning.</li>
<li>Gossip Girl - Totally late to the bandwagon on this one, I know, but I am loving watching this! It's total escapism and sometimes it's exactly what I need.</li>
<li>Ordering and booking our kitchen fitting - Gosh, how grown up does that sound?! Haha! We have finally agreed on everything in the kitchen, and have designed it exactly as we wanted! It's being delivered at the beginning of March, and fitted towards the end of March. So next month we will have a sparkly new kitchen!</li>
<li>Waking up and not feeling sick - I know, it sounds dramatic doesn't it!? Seriously though, I spent 2 weeks of this month with a virus which totally wiped me out... Even after it had disappeared I still felt really nauseous and lived off ginger biscuits and cream crackers... When I woke up one day and felt well again I think I actually did a happy dance! It's one of those things you totally take for granted, you know!?</li>
<li>Having a clean car - Trivial but oh so good! I don't remember the last time I properly cleaned out my car, but I did this month and I forgot how much calmer it makes me feel. I've also banned the kids from eating in there now so it should stay cleaner for longer!</li>
<li>Signing up for my diploma - Ever since I was at college I've wanted to study to be a mental health nurse/counsellor and until now, it just hasn't been right for me. I decided to bite the bullet this month and book on to a short online academy diploma in Child and Adolescent Counselling to see if it's something I'd like to pursue more. Eeeek </li>
</ol>
<div>
What have you been loving this month?</div>

In fact, most of what I use now doesn't change because it works really well for me. I never really saw the point in a skincare routine when I was a bit younger, because y'know, effort, but now I think it is even more important than make up! It's not particularly expensive, or fancy, but it works for me. FYI my skin is combinaion/oily/dehydrated so it's a bit of a mixture to contend with...<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I'm not gonna lie, my morning skincare routine is beyond basic - in fact, I wouldn't even call it 'skincare routine' cos I would rather have the extra time in bed. Haha. I use the <a href="http://www.boots.com/en/Garnier-Micellar-Cleansing-Water-400ml_1440752/">Garnier Micellar Water </a> on a cotton pad to remove any crap that might have got on my face over night. Normally I use the one with the pink lid which is just the reguar one, but at the moment I'm using the green one which is for sensitive skin. They're pretty much both the same though tbf. Next I use the <a href="http://www.olay.co.uk/en-gb/skin-care-products/total-effects-7-in-1-anti-ageing-day-moisturiser-with-spf">Olay Total Effects 7 in 1 moisturiser</a> which I've repurchased around 3 times now and I really like it (obvs!) It's really moisturising yet still sits well underneath make up. I can't say I've noticed any anti ageing effects as I am only 25... Prevention is better than cure and all that!<br />

<b><br /></b>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
If I'm wearing make up then I will use the Micellar Water to remove most of it off my face, followed by the <a href="http://www.boots.com/en/Nivea-Daily-Essentials-Double-Effect-Eye-Make-Up-Remover-125ml_1539602/">Nivea Double Effects Remover</a> which is an oil based remover to remove heavy eye make up. After that I use the Boots Botanics cleansing balm (which I've spoken about in <a href="http://sophies-edit.blogspot.co.uk/2016/01/my-staple-products.html">this post</a>) to remove the rest of my make up and give my face a deeper clean and then remove it with a warm flannel/muslin cloth. Three times a week or so I use the Boots Botanics radiance face scrub (not pictured cos I left it in the shower). It's quite gentle and it's really good at making the skin feel smooth but it's still a bit too harsh to use daily.<br />
<br />
The next step is toner which is something that until about 3 years ago I thought was just an unimportant step, but since discovering the Ren Clarifying Toner I literally use it every day! I'm not really sure what it does, but I know it does something because if I stop using it, then my skin just feels gross and dull. For evening moisturiser I use the Nivea Night Cream as it's slightly heavier so I feel adds more moisture over night. I was using the Olay one at night as well, but I found I was waking up with dry skin.<br />
<br />
Right before I go to bed I use the <a href="http://sophies-edit.blogspot.co.uk/2016/01/my-staple-products.html">Nuxe Reve De Miel</a> lipbalm. I have it on my bedside table so that I don't forget. It's thick and sinks in nicely so in the morning my lips are super soft. I'll occasionally use a disposable spoolie to buff off any dry skin as well. Yum.<br />
<br />
<b>Occasional </b><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<b><br /></b>
On a Sunday (usually) after cleansing, and before toner I like to use a face mask. At the moment I'm using the Good Things Radiance clay mask but I tend to switch it up depending on what my skin needs at the time. I follow this up with the <a href="http://www.origins.co.uk/product/3857/11647/Skincare/Category/Masks/Drink-Up-Intensive/Overnight-mask-to-quench-skins-thirst/index.tmpl">Origins Drink up Intensive Mask</a>, and although it's a mask I use it as a very hydrating moisturiser as the masks tend to make my skin feel quite tight and dry. If I have a spot which is sore, or massive then the Origins super spot remover gets rid of it pretty instantly. Yay.<br />
<br />
So there we have it... It's nothing groundbreaking, quite simple in fact but like I said, it works for me! The only thing missing really is an eye cream. I've tried several in the past but none of them really do it for me. Any suggestions?<br />
<br />

It can get stressful, hectic and just totally emotional and I'm sure most of you have times when you just need to de-stress, or escape from reality a little? I know I do, Today I thought I'd share the little things I do to chill myself out. They may not work for you, but they work for me :)<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMDRrQ7HQMu-POoq6g5BAB-WAYEfU5fM3yeXHd7jqhrWpzBHh-k5WJ_AL0K42_URYmp8WvmavFFzHNfbATKIwKy8gNXtCLC939mdTqE2A87EovtD_nIp3ircQTX6Op8pFoqjz3ruFRNDh_/s1600/Beach%252BYoga%252Bmeditation%252Bwallpaper%252Bsea.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMDRrQ7HQMu-POoq6g5BAB-WAYEfU5fM3yeXHd7jqhrWpzBHh-k5WJ_AL0K42_URYmp8WvmavFFzHNfbATKIwKy8gNXtCLC939mdTqE2A87EovtD_nIp3ircQTX6Op8pFoqjz3ruFRNDh_/s640/Beach%252BYoga%252Bmeditation%252Bwallpaper%252Bsea.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>

</tbody></table>
<ol>
<li><b>Wine - All the wine: </b>Ok, so maybe not <i>all </i>the wine, but I am totally not against having a glass of wine or 2 when I'm feeling stressed or when I just want to chill out. Yes, I know you shouldn't rely on wine to get through a bad day (I dont! Promise) but I do enjoy a little<i> </i>bit every now and again.</li>
<li><b>PJ's: </b>Not gonna lie, being in my pyjamas is pretty much my favourite thing ever. I come home from work, jump in the shower and put my pj's on straight away. If it's gone 5.30pm and I'm still dressed, there will be a pretty good reason haha! I find as soon as I'm in my PJ's I instantly feel chilled out, so snuggle on the sofa with a blanket and get comfy for the evening!</li>
<li><b>Get outside: </b>Fresh air is an instant calmer for me. Being outside whether it be for a run, or just a walk to the shops makes me happy. For some reason I find I can switch off easier when I'm outside. I don't know if it's cos I'm not checking my phone or just because there is generally no one around for me to talk to but I like it. I also find I sleep better when I've been outside for a bit.</li>
<li><b>Watch things: </b>Watch whatever makes you happy. Whether that's something deep and meaningful on the TV or YouTube on the laptop, take some time out to watch something <i>you </i>want. I tend to watch trashy shows on Netflix but that's just my preference.</li>
<li><b>Get a massage: </b>Ok so this one might not be totally viable but I totally love getting a massage when things get really tense. Sometimes Martin will give me a little back rub (tmi? Probs) but there is nothing like going for a full on half an hour massage. Seriously, if you can - try it!</li>
<li><b>Take a bubble bath: </b>This isnt something that I do regularly, but when I do, I like to go all out - a massive hot bath filled to the brim with lovely, foamy bubbles with YouTube on or a book in hand. I tend to do this when Martin goes away as I get really anxious then and I find it calms me down and I know I can have a bath without rushing for anything or anyone.<br /></li>
<li><b>Meditation: </b>I use this mainly for anxiety, but it is such a good way to just let everything go! You can get some really good meditation thingies on YouTube which talk you through everything that you need to do. I always feel so good after I do it, and I really don't know why I don't do it more often. </li>

I love cooking, which is a fairly new thing for me and I've got enough 'staple' recipes in my repertoire for most situations. Most of them involve pasta, but that's ok cos pasta is da bomb...<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Anyway, this is my pasta/spaghetti bolegnese recipe with a little added extra ;)</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFntfGfYYyniCT4S6WTxyF1vwvbnzu6ifNmqFUfd-fpmDWTq3Hgprp5ahVNjtOAKmyrd1t2IiFjBqTiazwQTbjT0Q8iku1b_n7wbRBGf2QRv46UD0F6JKEMAvttQL4ChtYrX-tZD2fBwjx/s1600/Spag+Bol+Raw+and+Cooked%2521.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFntfGfYYyniCT4S6WTxyF1vwvbnzu6ifNmqFUfd-fpmDWTq3Hgprp5ahVNjtOAKmyrd1t2IiFjBqTiazwQTbjT0Q8iku1b_n7wbRBGf2QRv46UD0F6JKEMAvttQL4ChtYrX-tZD2fBwjx/s640/Spag+Bol+Raw+and+Cooked%2521.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b><u>Ingredients (serves 2/3)</u></b></div>
<div>
<ul>
<li>250g mince (I used frozen mince here) you can also use chicken mince or quorn mince</li>
<li>1 tin canned chopped tomatos</li>
<li>3/4 onion</li>
<li>Mushrooms (however many you like!) </li>
<li>1/2 red pepper</li>
<li>A handful of sweetcorn (again, I used frozen but you can use whatever)</li>
<li>2 oxo cubes</li>
<li>A teaspoon of mixed herbs</li>
<li>1/2 teaspoon garlic or garlic puree</li>
<li>A squirt of tomato puree </li>
<li>Pepper and Worcestershire sauce to taste</li>
<li>Pasta of your choice</li>
</ul>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdImVarqgi-O__G0m0fJLKr7q8sDQOkBfn5ABnCYMF79KIkjPkhVSvrnsJV8RY43Xoki_NkyZomj5WWcAmqYKEfmkVk7Ys5wN73GbzjPS-656WddeN1SVtUw1VqX5kW2vkEsKIhZqNoiYT/s1600/Spag+Bol+Stages.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdImVarqgi-O__G0m0fJLKr7q8sDQOkBfn5ABnCYMF79KIkjPkhVSvrnsJV8RY43Xoki_NkyZomj5WWcAmqYKEfmkVk7Ys5wN73GbzjPS-656WddeN1SVtUw1VqX5kW2vkEsKIhZqNoiYT/s640/Spag+Bol+Stages.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b><u>Method</u></b></div>
<div>
<ul>
<li>Heat the mince over a medium heat, stirring often until it has all browned off (no pink bits!)</li>
<li>Whilst the mince is cooking, chop the onion, mushroom and pepper</li>
<li>Drain any excess fat from your mince before adding the onion, mushroom and pepper and cook for around 5 minutes until softened</li>
<li>Add the tin of tomatoes, the tomato puree, herbs, oxo cubes, garlic and pepper, stir and leave to simmer on a low heat (you can either cook the pasta straight away or leave it simmering for as long as you like... I find half an hour or so gives the best flavour!)</li>
<li>Add 2 cups of pasta to boiling water and cook for around 15 minutes (or less if you're using fresh pasta) </li>
<li>Stir a generous amount of Worcestershire sauce to the bolegnese and leave until the pasta has cooked. (seriously, it adds a whole new meaning to yummy!)</li>
<li>Serve with a sprinkling of cheese, garlic bread or salad if you wish</li>
</ul>
<div>
So there we have it - the easiest and super tasty bolegnese recipe!</div>
</div>

<li>Oh goshhh my face is disgusting! </li>
<li>Seriously, what is with those eye bags? Gross... </li>
<li>Light or heavy coverage foundation?</li>
<li>Oooh this brush is so soft.</li>
<li>I really should wash my brushes!</li>
<li>WHY HAVE I GOT SPOTS? Go away!!! I'm not 14 any more. </li>
<li>That's not enough blusher.</li>
<li>Shit, that's too much blusher.</li>
<li>It's okay to look like a clown though, right?</li>
<li>Ah sod it, that'll do.</li>
<li>Where's the bronzer? I need cheek bones.</li>
<li>Hmmm, does that even look any different?</li>
<li>Urgh why does my eyebrow gel make me look like I've got brow dandruff? Grim.</li>
<li>Maybe I need a new one. I'll buy a new one.</li>
<li>Liquid eyeliner literally makes me so nervous. Sweating one right out.</li>
<li>Yes! Nailed it.</li>
<li>Hmmm so that eye looks good, and that one looks crap.</li>
<li>Maybe I can just get rid of that and then extend that line and then... Great, now I look like a panda.</li>
<li>Awww, pandas are so cute though.</li>
<li>Maybe mascara will make it look better?</li>
<li>Nope - Ah well. Might as well stay at home now. </li>
<li>Can I get away with a bright red lip?</li>
<li>Too much effort though. Seriously, the effort.</li>
<li>Let's just whack out a nude.</li>
<li>Meh, at least now I look more presentable!</li>
</ol>
<div>
Hope you enjoyed this ladies! </div>

In my opinion it screams class, and confidence whilst also being a little bit sexy. I remember when I was in my teens being forced to wear red lipstick for dance shows and I HATED it. Now though, I don't even need an excuse and I kind of wish I could rewind 10 years and enjoy the red lipstick at the age of 15, haha.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
One of my all time favourites is Mac's Russian Red, but since I've bought the <a href="http://www.superdrug.com/L'Oreal-Paris/L'oreal-Colour-Riche-Collection-Priv%C3%A9e-Red-Lipstick-Blake/p/314611">Blake Lively for L'oreal</a> red it has kind of taken a back seat. Let's face it, who doesn't want to be Blake!?</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY4TtU9vkGipboJ6D11xx66O_6oFmVtfQAOEYlI7NGIr83GMm3LBXkKvFRw4TO_8TlNh5HA23vpVgCiDfv7LETT918zjmTj46dZ66qnNvzcliG0LpePadUVkV_Zkrt1gFXdXV9qMDhNiDS/s1600/Blake+Lipstick+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="494" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY4TtU9vkGipboJ6D11xx66O_6oFmVtfQAOEYlI7NGIr83GMm3LBXkKvFRw4TO_8TlNh5HA23vpVgCiDfv7LETT918zjmTj46dZ66qnNvzcliG0LpePadUVkV_Zkrt1gFXdXV9qMDhNiDS/s640/Blake+Lipstick+1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhATozpE4ee19XEaFk9PzMmmqupmar_pTfgUqEA47pm5euNwNDhuRYuU29GcBBr4qGN-BKV8uCL_YNTNTpCur1I2X2RrfVJjb43o9H8ng11C1_2NYEt38_su4yi4VDTBlZnbVALaPxNV8Xu/s1600/Blake+Lipstick+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="502" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhATozpE4ee19XEaFk9PzMmmqupmar_pTfgUqEA47pm5euNwNDhuRYuU29GcBBr4qGN-BKV8uCL_YNTNTpCur1I2X2RrfVJjb43o9H8ng11C1_2NYEt38_su4yi4VDTBlZnbVALaPxNV8Xu/s640/Blake+Lipstick+2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The packaging for the Colour Riche lipsticks are all the same - a black Nars-esque case with the gold detailing. It looks classy and simple... No fancy pants stuff here! </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
First off, the colour of this lipstick is amazing. It's a classic red with a blue undertone which looks amazing on most skin tones and makes teeth look really white. It goes on really creamy and doesn't drag across, or highlight any dry patches on your lips but it sets to a semi matte finish.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiy3Qk1lsmxmdFMWHivsn1jrPrziPzKS6qrWB3EjuU8MTRN-pEZcRuGXzVTVeLD6jlUYZmMR0d5bna7M6noTy6iszX8sXr5Evy1WhD6WC7pqzF2iTvlSeUYcBVPPbrEhYlwq1tpNgZYnzll/s1600/Blake+lipstick.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiy3Qk1lsmxmdFMWHivsn1jrPrziPzKS6qrWB3EjuU8MTRN-pEZcRuGXzVTVeLD6jlUYZmMR0d5bna7M6noTy6iszX8sXr5Evy1WhD6WC7pqzF2iTvlSeUYcBVPPbrEhYlwq1tpNgZYnzll/s640/Blake+lipstick.jpg" width="533" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The lasting power of this lipstick is really blimmin' good for it's price point. I find most lipsticks from the drugstore tend to last a couple of hours without fading but this lasts for about 5 hours before I need to top it up. If I'm on a night out, and not eating then I can put it on and forget about it cos it'll last the whole night. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
If you're looking for a dupe of <a href="http://www.selfridges.com/GB/en/cat/mac-lipstick_329-81004873-LIPSTICK/?previewAttribute=Russian+red&cm_mmc=PLA-_-Google-_-Beauty-_-MAC&ci_src=18615224&ci_sku=22931726&$$&_$ja=tsid:35948%7ccid:198779374%7cagid:10881905254%7ctid:pla-74782079374%7ccrid:40370766334%7cnw:g%7crnd:10182063014047492740%7cdvc:c%7cadp:1o4&gclid=Cj0KEQiAoby1BRDA-fPXtITt3f0BEiQAPCkqQdJOgZaLReEOb_eMJkyaUpkktjCVzNH3TPZxGScZp64aAvS38P8HAQ">Mac's Russian red</a>, but don't want to pay the £15.50 price tag, then you should really give this a go. You can get it from Boots and Superdrug or most drugstores for around £6.99 so it's literally half the price. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
What do you ladies think of this lipstick? Are there any more you want me to review?</div>

One.Blogging is bad for my bank balance. Ok, so it's not like I NEEDED any ammunition to buy things and it's not like blogger is forcing me to buy things, but by having this blog, I have an excuse.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So, the other day I bought some things. Some of them I needed to restock, and other things were just because...</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Some of them I've already used cos I've had them since the start of January, and some are more recent, so if I've used them then I'll give my quick thoughts on it. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<u style="font-weight: bold;">Garnier Micellar Water - </u>Boots £4.99. This is a repurchase, and one I've repurchased loads of times already. I've written about it <a href="http://sophies-edit.blogspot.co.uk/2016/01/my-staple-products.html">here</a> if you want to see my thoughts on it.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<u style="font-weight: bold;">Good Things Manuka Honey Radiance Face Mask - </u>Boots £5.99. I bought this cos I needed a new face mask and this was the only one in Boots at the time that was for radiant skin. I've only used it once, and it did make my skin look healthier but it also broke me out. Either way I will just keep using it to see if I see any real difference. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<u style="font-weight: bold;">Boots Botanics All Bright Purifying Face Scrub - </u>Boots £3.99. This is another repurchase for me. I don't use it that often, 2 or 3 times a week maybe, but I tend to use it when I feel my skin is getting a bit congested. Yum. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<u style="font-weight: bold;">Mac Lipstick in Brave - </u>Selfridges £15.50. I went to Mac in John Lewis the other day to pick up Mehr or Velvet Teddy. Then I saw this and Martin told me to get it! I know, he's a keeper ;) I haven't had a chance to use it so I can't report back just yet. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<u style="font-weight: bold;">Seventeen Nail Xtra Strengthening Base Coat - </u>Boots £2.99. I bought this as a replacement for my Revlon treat and boost as I wanted more of a base coat as opposed to a treatment and so far I love it! It leaves my nails strong and they look really polished. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<u style="font-weight: bold;">Rimmel Rita Ora Nail Varnish in Rain Rain Go Away - </u>Boots £2.99 I wanted a grey nail varnish with a purple undertone for ages, and when I saw this I thought it would be a pure grey, but it's not. I absolutely love it. It's a classy yet understated colour and just makes me feel more put together if that makes sense. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<u style="font-weight: bold;">Barry M Nail Varnish in Dark Side of the Shroom - </u>Boots £4.99. This has been my favourite nail varnish this january! It's a dark grey/brown/purple and it's gorgeous. It lasts quite well on my nails as well, which is surprising. Haha.<br />
<br />
<u style="font-weight: bold;">Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Foundation - </u>I bought this in the shade Ivory and it's a perfect match for my skin. I've only worn it a couple of times and I wouldn't necessarily say it lasts all day but it lasts a fair while on my oily/combo skin and the coverage is pretty good. I will report back after I've tried it out a few more times though!<br />
<br />
<u style="font-weight: bold;">Revlon All in One Mascara - </u>Revlon have recently relaunched all their mascaras into black tubes with a coloured lid and the red one claims to create volume and length whilst being really black. Again, I've only used it a few times but I like it, although I find it a little fiddly to apply. It doesnt smudge or flake though which is always a bonus<br />
<br />
If anyone wants any full reviews on any of these products then let me know and I can write one up :)<br />

<i>Warning - heavy post alert!</i><br />
<br />
Today I thought I'd share my experience of getting my hair lightened, mainly because when I was searching for advice and information on it, it was so tricky to find, especially as my hair is super dark naturally. If you saw my <a href="http://sophies-edit.blogspot.co.uk/2016/01/hair-history.html">hair history</a> post then you will see just how dark my hair is, so as you can imagine, blonde isn't the easiest result to get. I'm not aiming for platinium blonde by any means, but I do want to be lighter than I currently am!<br />
<br />
So, first things first, I want to point out that I do go to an actual hairdresser to get my hair done! Whilst I'm pretty adventurous with doing hair things myself, this is NOT something I wanted to do myself. Haha... I have a full head of highlights, which is done from a mixture of pure peroxide bleach and an ash toner colour over the top. I don't think I need the toner now, but it stops it from going brassy and keeps it looking slightly more natural!<br />
<br />
Anyway, I first went in September, armed with pictures of what I wanted and I was told it would take several rounds to get anywhere near that, to save damaging my hair which was pretty ok with me and this was the result...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmHDWxUpUuL2J-QdhvZaabfGnZGzpaV3K9YotrSBz8N2S5TxG0BPWvWmOOvurwMwnAkIFb624eQHtwpGue5Jj1nLrO2ogSefffyyz5Fhe7y8-0bI-829MpBkAXSHakis-tciraFx0wmZjw/s1600/Hair+phase+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmHDWxUpUuL2J-QdhvZaabfGnZGzpaV3K9YotrSBz8N2S5TxG0BPWvWmOOvurwMwnAkIFb624eQHtwpGue5Jj1nLrO2ogSefffyyz5Fhe7y8-0bI-829MpBkAXSHakis-tciraFx0wmZjw/s640/Hair+phase+1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
As you can see, the highlights are really subtle and very fine and my actual base colour is still very dark. This stage took about 2.5 hours to do, which is a long time really for such little change.<br />
<br />
I only left it about 5 or 6 weeks before I went again, which isn't really recommended but I wanted it done before I was a bridesmaid at my friends wedding and my hair was in pretty good condition anyway so it was fine to do.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhus2cVpPUM3dD4muN6NOmQtOhpe23OT84XDPd5dw43AQVD-FeJO_8AXfZBHzAFKGwPqqSvLmaKGjP62tySEDeQyXzL7GaQZZJ7FxLd5lKeJGt4XOO0nENCxN_s1lt-0SYDJdNwiTX2oTUu/s1600/hair+stage+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhus2cVpPUM3dD4muN6NOmQtOhpe23OT84XDPd5dw43AQVD-FeJO_8AXfZBHzAFKGwPqqSvLmaKGjP62tySEDeQyXzL7GaQZZJ7FxLd5lKeJGt4XOO0nENCxN_s1lt-0SYDJdNwiTX2oTUu/s640/hair+stage+2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
More highlights! So yeah, I had a few more highlights put through it to lighten up the base colour slightly. As you can see I still started off quite dark this time, but it ended up going lighter. I think that's partly due to the purple shampoo I use, but I'm not 100% sure haha. The actual highlights themselves are getting lighter and take easier to the bleach and toner which obviously makes them lighter and less coppery.<br />
<br />
After this session I then left it another 6 weeks before my next appointment and my roots were in definite need of a touch up which I had done just in time for my first Christmas party of the season!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYOf_4Q41NVFAiN6nlyqpuhFgQ53axVAH5H8VAVgsCGhrT1F5k73iMZ4FTU_6ZpMp_J5GQGQU2rsZTT9m3We3ns3GkfPJfjPnMAC5VRBEEdVZVDHmLFqzQ2yQmjyVLs3oXblRYvkissx9N/s1600/Hair+phase+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYOf_4Q41NVFAiN6nlyqpuhFgQ53axVAH5H8VAVgsCGhrT1F5k73iMZ4FTU_6ZpMp_J5GQGQU2rsZTT9m3We3ns3GkfPJfjPnMAC5VRBEEdVZVDHmLFqzQ2yQmjyVLs3oXblRYvkissx9N/s640/Hair+phase+3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Ok so ignore my stupid face in the first picture, but this was literally as soon as I got home after my appointment! It's very bright and in your face I know, but I was really happy with it. My whole head of hair is definitely lighter and the highlights look so good! I love the tone that it was at over new year (the last picture!) This time it took around 3 hours I think, but that did include a cut and blow dry as well... Ahhhh pamper!<br />
<br />
Even though it's not quite as blonde as I'd like to end up, it is well on it's way and I would rather do it this way than just plonk a shit load of bleach on it in one go. At the moment it's still relatively healthy, although slightly drier on the ends than before but nothing a bit of oil doesn't solve. I very rarely use heat on it, which probably helps keep it's condition, and I have it cut every other time I go.<br />
<br />
Anyway, I have another appointment booked for 6th Feb, so I'm hoping to go for a few more highlights, and focus some lighter blonde on the end so it's kind of a soft ombre/balyage effect.<br />
<br />
What do you think?<br />
<br />

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
For many of us mental health is something that we have, or
will experience at some point in our lives, be it something that we suffer with
ourselves, or watching someone else go through it. Obviously not everyone will
have first-hand experience of mental health but it really is something that we
need to talk about! Thursday February 4th is ‘time to talk day’ – a
time to talk about the misconceptions surrounding mental health, and charities
are trying to do so much to get people to realise that it’s not wrong to suffer
and that you don’t need to suffer in silence, there are people there to help
you. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Even in 2016 there is such a stigma attached to the term
‘mental health’ and that is something that needs to change, and pretty damn
fast! I understand why some people have the impression that mental health is
just feeling a bit sad or low, and I also understand why some people presume
it’s just others doing it for attention, but the truth of it is so much worse.
Social media plays a massive part of this stigma as it is far too easy for people
to post negativity around the subject, and it is also too easy for people to
use it as a way to gain attention. Let me just tell you, mental health is not
glamourous and it’s not something worth bragging about, but it does need to be
spoken about, and I’m going to share my story. If it helps even one person,
then I can sit here knowing I’ve done a job well done<a href="https://www.blogger.com/null" name="_GoBack"></a>.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
For me, mental health comes in the form of depression and
anxiety. I’m not gonna lie, it frickin’ sucks. It’s debilitating and mentally
and physically draining which I think is what some people don’t understand. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpSn0HsbmX6KMFCO96VFmT4A6vXh18He8ExDnu9gSNg32WP4PCP5ZYSkHvUqEKv1DhzKNNKLpPvKr4kvv6ZZvZptz7OTZFotKMhyphenhyphenUuYPphFwSz0mPRPNECch_Qr5OtCyrb5Hqf5UuiMis4/s1600/Mind+Logo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="263" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpSn0HsbmX6KMFCO96VFmT4A6vXh18He8ExDnu9gSNg32WP4PCP5ZYSkHvUqEKv1DhzKNNKLpPvKr4kvv6ZZvZptz7OTZFotKMhyphenhyphenUuYPphFwSz0mPRPNECch_Qr5OtCyrb5Hqf5UuiMis4/s400/Mind+Logo.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I guess I first
noticed symptoms when I was about 18. I was in my second year of college and
thought I was in a really good place. I was happy and content and things were
going my way and I had no reason to be depressed. It felt like I literally woke
up one day and there was a black cloud over my head, following me. I questioned
EVERYTHING, I was emotional but couldn’t explain why and I couldn’t cope with
change. Things that hadn’t bothered me before were now heightened beyond
belief, to the point where I freaked out at a dance class because the stage was
in a different place than it previously had been. I guess it was at that point that I knew I
needed help. It was affecting me, my family and friends and I found I was
pushing people away because I had become a bit of a recluse. I went to work and
college because I had to, but I was just going through the motions. The rest of
the time I pretty much stayed in bed, or holed up in my flat not wanting to go
out. I put up with it for a while before I had the courage to go to the
doctors. I felt like I was weak, and that by going to the doctors I was a
failure. You may be feeling like that too, but I promise you, you are not weak.
You are strong and brave! Anyway, the doctor asked me whether I wanted
counselling or pills and at the time, the last thing I wanted was to talk about
things, so I opted for the pills. She gave me 100mg of Sertraline to start me
off which is an SSRI primarily used to treat despressive and anxiety disorders.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The pills were fine for the most part. It took a while for
me to notice the effects – about 3 or 4 weeks I’d say, but once they kicked in
they were really effective! Throughout this I was monitored by the doctors to
make sure I was still doing ok, and to make sure that the pills were right for
me. I know most professionals would advise against taking pills especially for as long as I have, but for me they worked, and kept me on a level playing field. Despite all this, I was still being encouraged to take up counselling, and
had various leaflets handed out to me by different doctors, but at that time I
was still happy with the pills. I realise now that I was just burying the main
issues and was just dealing with the effects rather than the cause, something
which many people with mental illnesses find easiest to do.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
After 4 years of being on Sertraline, I decided to take up
counselling. I don’t know what made me do it, but I am so glad I did. I decided
to go private and not through the NHS as I felt that would be better for me, although
there are SO MANY free charities/advice services such as iTalk and Mind if that
is something you want to do. If you go private then it is expensive. My god it
is bloody expensive but honestly, it’s the best money I have ever spent. So
about 2 and a half years ago I sat down for the first time with my counsellor
and I never looked back. The first session increased my anxiety tenfold – I was
actually shaking, but after a while I found that once I started talking I just couldn’t
stop. 4 years worth of issues just came out and the relief that I felt
afterwards was just phenomenal. I honestly believe that because of the time
spent in those sessions I am where I am today. Cheesy but true.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I think for most people, the fear of the unknown is what
stops people from discussing things with counsellors and doctors but trust me
when I say it is nowhere near as bad as you’re anticipating it to be. Yes, the
first session is awkward, but a good counsellor will make you feel at ease.
They don’t judge you and they definitely won’t shout at you – not to mention it’s
all 100% confidential, unless they believe you to be a threat to yourself or to
others. I understand though, that you
have to be ready to take that step. There is no point in others trying to force
it on you if you’re not ready to talk; it has to be done in your own time.
Something which I feel other people don’t necessarily understand. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Whilst my counselling was amazing, last year I had a
relapse. Not with depression as it had been before, but more with anxiety,
which for me was much worse. I had decided to wean myself off the tablets and I
had gotten to the point where I was taking them twice a week instead of every
day and I just hit a brick wall.
Metaphorically of course. The withdrawal
effects were definitely not worth it and they made me feel just as bad as the
anxiety; I was shaking, had the sweats, was constantly hungry and felt like I
was living life outside of my body. It was pretty hideous. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
There were certain things which triggered my anxiety which I
tried to avoid as much as I could but that wasn’t always possible. At it’s worse
the anxiety would make me hyperventilate, I felt physically sick, I would feel
hungry but the thought of, or actually eating made me want to vomit, I constantly
needed to pee (tmi I know) and I had a pounding headache. As well as this, I
was very untrusting of my boyfriend though he had given me no need to be, and I
picked for arguments. As I had been in a similar situation before, I knew I
needed to find another counsellor who focussed mainly on anxiety.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I think I had about 10 sessions with my new counsellor and
she helped me so much – more than she knows, I’m sure. She gave me the tools I
needed to move forward and to deal with the anxiety, and touch wood *touches
wood!* since September I haven’t had a single panic attack!</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
So, where am I now? 5 years since I was first prescribed
Sertraline, I am still taking it, but with the doctors help I am weaning myself
off so that I can move to a drug which is a lower dose and more for anxiety and
not for depression. Mainly to keep the edge off of things, as day to day, I
feel like I deal with any anxiety
triggers before they manifest into something else! I have a little book which
has all my tips and tricks for dealing with anxiety and depression, which I
haven’t had to use. Yay.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
So, I know this post has been very long and well done if you
made it to the end, but it is something that is really close to my heart and
like I said, it’s still something that not everyone understands and we need to
change that. Use the hashtag #timetotalk on twitter to show your support and to let others know you understand!</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
If anyone wants me to do a post on how I cope with anxiety
then I can, just let me know, but in the meantime if you’re struggling to cope
and need help or advice then give the mind charity or the Samaritans a call! </div>
